Senses Poetry

We have been writing poems inspired by the book A Story Like the Wind. A group of refugees are lost at sea on a small boat, with a small hope. We used Michael Rosen's poem Hand of the Bridge to give us the structure. Let us know what you think?

Titanic History Day

We had a great day learning about the impact of the sinking of the Titanic on the local area. Andy, from the Sea City Museum in Southampton, came in and inspired the children with tales of the passengers. The children looked at artefacts, maps, and other resources to build their understanding of this tragic event. In the afternoon, there was an emergency evacuation from the Titanic (pirate ship) where most of the men were left behind to sink with the ship. As you can see, the costumes were amazing and they children had a great day.

More science

We have continued looking at buoyancy and been designing the best shape for a life boat. The challenge was to see how many people (multilink) each boat could hold. We kept the amount of plasticine the same to make it a fair test. The results were quite varied but we learnt what a good one looks like and are all looking forward to our next attempt.

Music

We have been learning about rock music and have identified the elements of a rock song. We have been learning 'Living on a Prayer' by Bon Jovi and we have all enjoyed singing and playing along.
